The new Moresk Centre is a great example of how working together in partnership can bring a good result. The unused Age Concern day centre building was passed from Cornwall Council to Truro City Council, who now own the building. Recognising the shortage of affordable, community spaces available to local people, Truro City Council have refurbished and furnished the building to a high standard. Truro City Council are also supporting the start up of the centre.
The local churches in Truro have formed a new, not for profit charitable trust to operate and reach out into the local community.
Trustees have named the building as The Moresk Centre, reflecting its location in the city and are preparing to take bookings at a scale of charges that will be affordable.
The Moresk Centre offers a warm, welcoming and safe environment, including :-
- A 70 seat auditorium equipped with tables and chairs, large screen audio-visual system with 3 microphones and an easy-to-use interface for users
- Kitchen connected by a hatch to a cafe-style area off the auditorium
- 2 meeting rooms equipped with tables and chairs, one with smart TV
- Excellent, safe storage areas
The trustees see the Moresk Centre becoming a “go-to” place, playing a valuable role in the community of Truro.
Please note:- The Moresk Centre has no on-site parking. There is a Cornwall Council Pay & Display car park opposite or an NCP car park about 100m up from the Centre.
